The Board of the EST Foundation has appointed Göran Scharmer, an astrophysicist with 40 years of experience in instrumental developments relevant to the design of EST, as Scientific and Technical Advisor to the Director of the EST Foundation.

After participating in the BSBF 2022, EST will once again be represented at the third edition of the prestigious international congress, which will take place from 1 to 4 October 2024 in Trieste (Italy).

The EST Project is currently undergoing the EST Optics and Adaptive Optics (AO) Preliminary Review, supervised by an international expert review panel.

At the beginning of 2024, the selection process for the positions of director and administrator of the EST Foundation was advertised and opened. After receiving and evaluating various applications, the Board of Trustees made a unanimous decision regarding the selected candidates.

The University of Graz has officially become a member of the EST Foundation for the next two years. With this addition, the entity now comprises 10 European institutions from 8 countries.

A selection process to fill the positions of Director and Administrator of the EST-CF has been started, with application deadlines set for 29 February and 31 January 2024, respectively.

Following the creation of the EST Canarian Foundation on July 25, 2023 with the signature of 9 research institutions from 7 European countries, the first meeting of the Foundation's Board of Trustees took place online on September 19.

9 institutions from 7 European countries signed the deed of the foundation that grants legal character to the project consortium and paves the way for the construction of the European Solar Telescope.

The European Solar Telescope was present as an Affiliated Big Science Organisation (ABSO) at the Big Science Business Forum (BSBF) 2022 held in Granada (Spain) from October 3-6, 2022.

The event took place in Montreal (Canada) on July 17-22. The program included 24 contributions related to the EST and SOLARNET projects.
